About us
Hi my name is Tony and apart from the day to day running of the business, I am one of the fishing guides - a job I really enjoy. As a fishing guide I respect the fact that anglers (especially carp anglers) like to do things their own way and will only give advice if asked. I've been a keen carp angler for more than 40 years now, and still enjoy my fishing, I also enjoy listening and talking to others about tactics, rigs and other carpy stuff.
Originally CarpRuns started with me organising trips for just friends and family, and things seem to have snowballed from there. Now with more than 80% of our customers rebooking for further trips, my hobby and enjoyable pastime has become a full time job, nice work if you can get it!.
Nowadays, there are more arranged trips than you can shake a throwing stick at and many of these trips are organised to fund peoples own fishing aspirations, the feedback we get is that whilst some are o.k, many others are pretty grim.
My objective is quite simple and that's to provide a fantastic weeks fishing and to take away all of the hassle, so that you and your friends can enjoy that all important carp fishing trip that you have so been looking forward to. Many of the people who have been on our trips have become friends who stay in touch all the year round.
I met Jules-Marc (who owns the lakes) whilst I was trout fishing a stream which runs along side the lakes. I'd seen trout moving up and down the stream and decided that one of them would be spot on cooked on the barbeque for supper.
Now, when you are suddenly faced with a 'what are YOU doing here?' fishing for my trout without permission, what do you say? Well he said no more, other than to invite me to his house that evening for dinner and to meet his family, our friendship began from there.
"Hello my name is Jules-Marc Engel and I own the lakes and fish farm at Du Moulin De Bley. My Father who breeds cattle on the estate here, created the lakes more than 30 years ago, but the Moulin De Bley (Bley water mill) has been here since the 14th century.
I attended college in England, and have many fond memories, I still miss the english food! My association with CarpRuns is not just a business one, we are very close friends who trust each other, it is with this trust that our partnership is built on. The CarpRuns trips are always a good time for everyone as we sit around in the sunshine drinking wine and chatting. In 2003 I resumed work on the fish farm, after spending time working away from home on other business commitments. Now Tony, his staff and myself are concentrating on creating a carp fishery second to none. A place you will want to come back to, time and time again".
